The Rover

With our base station happily sitting on the balcony sending corrections to the cloud, it’s time to look at the Rover.
For this, we are using the RTK4. While the base uses dual-band, the new simpleRTK4 features the u-blox ZED-X20P chip. This is an all-band receiver (L1, L2, L5, and L6). Having access to L5 and L6 bands means the rover can lock into an RTK Fix (sub-centimeter accuracy) drastically faster than older modules, especially in challenging environments like under tree canopies or near tall buildings.
The kit from Ardusimple wasn’t really designed to be mounted on a rover rod. I printed a mount to connect the rod 5/8 connector to the antenna. There is a lot of cable with the u-blox ANN-MB-00 so I printed a cable wrap for it also. For the module itself, I originally brought the case for the board and still wanted to use it. The last mount I created clips onto the case and has a drop in for my battery.
